MicrobesOnline Operon Predictions
We have predicted operons in all of the genomes in the VIMSS database. These predictions are primarily based on
  • comparative genomics, especially conserved gene order, and
  • a genome-specific model of how compact operons are, relative to other same-strand pairs, which we infer from the comparative data
From databases of known operons and microarray data, we estimate that the method is at least 82% accurate in most genomes.
